Meet Our Spring/Summer 2022 Season Coaches!

4th Grade Coaches:

Heather Thompson (formally Heather McGinty): Heather graduated from Neshaminy High School as the all-time leading scorer for both boys’ and girls’ basketball. She played for four years at Drexel University (NCAA Division I). She serves as the Assistant Coach for Rider University (NCAA Division I) basketball program and has dedicated her time to supporting the development of youth basketball for over 27 years, supporting clinics, CYO and AAU organizations.

Lisa Boyle: Lisa was the four-year starting center for Temple University Women’s basketball (NCAA Division I). She went on to coach JV at Conwell Egan Catholic for two years. After having seven children, she started coaching at the AAU/Travel level, and has been coaching for the past nine years.

Sandy Penner: Sandy has been coaching AAU basketball for over a decade. He played in high school and can still be seen on the courts several times a week in a local men’s league. He loves teaching the game and is excited to share this coaching experience with his daughter, Mara.

Mara Penner: Mara has been playing basketball since she could walk. She started her AAU career with our club, “playing up” as a 2nd grader, and finished her final AAU season last summer as a member of HEAT Hoops. She will graduate from Council Rock North this spring, where she played all four years.

Danielle Oxley: Danielle graduated from Council Rock North in 2003 and continued her playing career at University of Hartford (NCAA Division I). She then coached at the high school level for five years, and has also been coaching youth basketball for both boys’ and girls’ teams over the past 4 years.

 

5th Grade Coach:

Alan Jett: A football player at Missouri University (NCAA Division I), Coach Jett, co-director of HEAT Hoops AAU, has been a coach for many local high school programs for the past 30 years. He is the founder of our AAU program and has coached hundreds of girls in basketball over the past few decades. We wrote his bio for him and consider him a “local coaching legend” though he will say he’s just been rattling around for a while.

 

6th Grade Coach:

Lisa Garner: Lisa has a love for all things basketball! She played though high school and played for Cairn University (NCAA Division III). Lisa previously coached for three years in the Lehigh Valley at Emmaus High School before joining the coaching staff at Central Bucks East, where she is in her third year as assistant coach.

 

7th Grade Coaches:

Sue Barone: Sue played AAU basketball growing up and continued her playing career at Widener University (NCAA Division III). She has been a travel basketball coach for three years with our program.

Julie Cruz: Julie is in her third season coaching competitive basketball. She suffered a knee injury that prevented her from playing high school basketball but has still been a lifelong student of the game and enjoys finding ways to help every player with their personal skill development.

 

8th Grade Coaches:

Lisa Mann: Lisa played AAU basketball and played through high school. She played softball in college for Holy Family College (now University) (NCAA Division II). Lisa has coached CYO, travel, and AAU basketball for seven years.

Shaheem Parks: Shaheem played basketball until high school. He has coached CYO and township basketball for five years. 

 

9th Grade Coaches:

Kari Cairone: Kari has been coaching AAU for over a decade and is co-director of the HEAT Hoops AAU program, as well as a board member of Upper Makefield Newtown Basketball intramural and HEAT travel programs. She played for four years at Lafayette College (NCAA Division I) where she served as captain.

Danielle Reckner: Danielle has many years of experience coaching basketball, field hockey, softball and soccer at both Council Rock and Central Bucks middle and high school levels. She has coached at Upper Makefield and Heat Hoops for four years. Danielle also played field hockey at St. Joseph's University (NCAA Division I).

Jack Kelly: Jack is completed his 8th season as a high school assistant coach. He spent five years as an assistant and head JV boys' basketball coach for Mid Valley High School in Throop, PA and the past three years as an assistant and head JV coach for Council Rock North girls’ team. He played for Dunmore High School, where he graduated in 2009.

Jason Metrick: Jason has been coaching youth basketball for a decade on both the boys’ and girls’ sides. He has been assisting with HEAT Hoops AAU for the past two years.

 

10th Grade Coaches:

11th Grade Coaches:

Ed Little: Ed has been coaching youth sports for nearly 20 years. He is a travel soccer coach and has been coaching with the HEAT program for the past four years.
